Welcome to Doncaster Council's fostering website where you will find information about taking the first steps to becoming a foster carer and what this could mean for you and your family.
At any one time there are around 300 children in Doncaster who need people like you to foster them. You can make a real difference by providing them with a stable home as well as giving them the chance to experience everyday activities that they may otherwise never get chance to do. These could include going to the park, having a bed time story, or more simply just someone to talk to about their day at school.
As a foster carer you could change a child’s life by raising their aspirations and providing secure care when they can't live with their own parents or family. There are a number of reasons why children are separated from their families, but all children have one thing in common which is the need for a loving and happy home either for a very short period of time or in some cases for the rest of their childhood.
Becoming a foster carer can transform your life as well as a child's. Whilst it can be very challenging, it’s hugely rewarding and gives you the chance to make a real difference to the children of Doncaster.
